hi again!! there seems to be sth to update everyday!! how nice rite?!?!? hahaha..
Ben is so sweet he misses me so much.. awwww.. hahaha.. he went to his lab and e.mailed me 3 times today! haahhahah.. nice long e.mails to boot! i'm so glad he's got a nice lab environment and supervisor as well! he's much more confident about this whole OIAP thing now! yay! really happy for him! oh yes! he's got no net and no phone BUT!! he's got his SwiPe card already!!!!! not fair!!ah wells he's eagerly awaiting his internet connection to be set up! i bet he's like rotting at home or sth! hahahaha!
ANYWAYS!! today was a good day! woke up a tad be later to go settle some admin stuff. We got our university cards! its like the ngee ann student card just that its for the University of Liverpool!! then we met the singapore ambassador here and he walked us all the way down to the city center! its like super far.. amanda and i wondered what gave him the idea that we had time to actually walk all the way down to the city center. But it was a nice gesture on his part. he's first year law, formerly from tpjc. so yup.. Amanda and i checked into the labs at about 12, but that was like lunch time.. so we had until 2.30 to kill. how slack right? but before waiting i went to see Dr Mal! he brought us around the lab and he showed me my little work space and introduced me to all the postdocs and undergrads. he's wife is super pretty by the way plus he has a little son!hahaha.. i digress. so yup after that he had to rush off for tutorials and left amanda and i to do our own thing. so pal and i sat at one of the lounge areas and had a nice long chat about stuff and people! The people there really do not care about what yr doing man! we just sat there and talked and talked and talked and countless professors just walked by. In singapore they would totally as you what do you want and why are u sitting here! hahahahaha.
so 2.30 came and we followed Gregor to the prep room to make our saline solution for a practice. they had BLUE gloves!! the gloves dont have the stinko powder somemore like WOAh!!! but they kinda suffocate yr hands.. so anyways we performed rather well just that the expected osmosality was a bit off lah. But the measuring thing was off calibration as well. so like it wasen't a big problem cos we ended up throwing away our solutions anyways! After that we were let off. it was only 3 mind you! so instead of heading straight home, amanda went to see her supervisor to get her project sorted out (she's doing c. alegens (some worm)) and i went to the green level to see Dr Mal again to fill in my swipe card forms. so yup he took the forms then he explained my project to me alittle. its realyy interesting!! basically i'll be working with staph aureus, growing them on X-gal agar and normal-ish agar then just colour coding the colonies!! then like search for transposons(jumping genes) or sth.
so yeah tmr i'll be doing some pour plates and will basically be reading alot of papers and stuff this week. he already gave me 3 to read plus i have to read some thick staphcocci book. but its alright! he's really really nice! like you understand how nice he is! he's so flexible! he's like "you can come in whenever, dosen't Have to be 9-5, it can be like 10-4. I think you should have some fun as well! if you think its a nice day you can take the morning to go sight-seeing!" like omgosh right?!?!?!?! but of course being who i am i won't take advantage of that.. besides! my pal won't be with me to go walk around! BUT at least i'd be given some grace period to get to work even if i woke up late.. hur hur hur. Oh yeah.. i told him about the mark sheet thing and he's like totally cool with giving the sheet directly to me to give back to Dr Zaman! he's like "i'll just pass it to you and you can read what i wrote." hahahah..he's so open! hahah...so waited for amanda till about 4-ish then headed home to rest before heading out again for dinner with the other s'pore students!
they are nice and oh so funny! hahaha.. amanda and i were laughing through dinner! hahaha. we went to some mediterranean food place to it. quite cheap but rather oily! hahahah.. spent a total of 2.60pounds. cos amanda and i shared food and one of the guys bought us drinks. hahaha.. they are a nice bunch! so we got back at about 8-ish and had a bath. oh yes! we've found a church! one of the s'pore dudes is gonna bring us there on sunday! how lovely! hahahahahha. he also taught us how to the laundry thingy works! hahaha.. he lives at Agnes Jones too you see. hahaha.. so convenient! how God provides so abunduntly! yay!!
